This past Saturday, we held our FIRST EVER Nankin Hobby Scale Adventure at Rotary Park in Livonia, Mi!
The park is a favorite among neighboring communities, especially those with children (they've even updated the playground equipment to be universally accessible). What a lot of people don't notice are the walking trails near the back of the park -- perfect for scale crawling.
Although a bit humid (with our infamous Michigan mosquitoes) , the rain held off and everyone enjoyed a successful adventure! The event lasted around an hour and a half, with people of all ages in attendance. Some parents enjoyed sharing their rigs with their kids, and the kids were equally excited to participate.
Nankin Hobby employee, and crawler enthusiast, Dave Beebe was there to run the whole show. He noted that he saw a few faces from his Crawling Workshop back in May and some participants from the first comp of the summer. He was thrilled to meet so many new people though! Dave loves introducing folks to the #tinytrucks community, and he hopes everyone had a great time practicing.
As planned, we held a "Show-n-Shine" competition too, where drivers entered the truck they were running that day. Some of the categories were: Best Paint, Best Fabrication Work, Best Replica and Most Unique Build. The Best-in-Show $25 Nankin gift card went to Cameron Durfee for his Unimog (video below)!
The next event in our Summer Crawling Series is a scale comp at Woodland Hills Nature Park in Farmington Hills, Michigan. That will take place on July 28th, and you can RSVP on Facebook or read more about it here!
